Silent Blessings

And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not: Ruth 2:15

Ruth knew that Boaz had favored her by allowing her to eat of his food while she gleaned. But I find it interesting that he waited for her to leave before instructing his workers to give her special priviledge and to intentionally leave ears of corn for her to take. You see, God doesn't always clue us in when He blesses us. Sometimes His blessings are subtle and quiet. That's what love does, though--love gives without needing either a reason or recognition. God blesses us because He wants to...and sometimes He does it without drawing attention to Himself. He just does it because He loves us. Try to keep an eye out for these silent blessings, the handfuls on purpose. You won't always catch them (God does far more for us than we could ever know), but when you do, they'll bring a joy equal to or greater than many of His more obvious blessings.
