For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 1 Corinthians 2:2
Have you ever heard someone say, "You've got to get them lost before you can get them saved"? I can't count the number of times I've heard statements like that. And that statement is all screwed up. First and foremost, we can't get anyone saved. Saving is neither my job nor yours, but God's. Secondly, we don't need to get them lost, because they already are lost. Now, I understand the underlying principle that, until one realizes his need, he can't be saved. But trying to convince someone of their need is a waste of your time! The simple fact of the matter is, the world knows they need something different. Most people are well aware of the fact that they're a mess, and those who aren't, are not going to change their minds because you said so. What the world needs--what we need to be telling them--is that there is hope! There is life, there is love, there is peace, there is joy, and all that can be found in a crucified Christ. Stop tying to tell the world how bad they are; they know themselves better than you anyway. Stop trying to shove the law down their throats--the time for that is past. Our message now is grace. Our message now is Christ.
